Preliminary LDSS Design Ready

A preliminary design for Leamington's new high school has made the rounds amongst the officials at the Greater Essex County District School Board, and the superintendent of education hopes to make it public soon.

Todd Awender says there will likely be a few more tweaks before it's unveiled at a town council meeting. "There will be some public meetings that will take place," he says. "I don't know that we're there yet, but I think in the very near future."

The school, which will house 1,000 students is expected to open in September 2017 and cost around $30-million. "This is probably our biggest high school build ever," says Awender.

He also hopes it boosts enrollment.
