WESPY Nominee List Released

They're just the second team to win five consecutive CIS University women's basketball championships, and now the Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team is a nominee for the Team of the Year Award.

The honour will be bestowed at the tenth annual WESPY Awards on April 13 at the Caboto Club. NHL all-star Chris Pronger is this year's keynote speaker.

Organizers released their list of nominees Monday. In addition to the major awards, there are 29 women nominated in 11 categories, and 35 men nominated in 12 categories.

The Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team is competing against the Windsor Express and the St.Clair College Men's Baseball team.

There are four candidates for the Female Athlete of the Year award and three for Male Athlete of the Year. In the Coach of the Year category are Windsor Express head coach Bill Jones, Women's Lancers Basketball coach Chantal Vallee, and Kevin Hamlin with the Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
