Drunk Driving Charge After Crash

A man has been charged with drunk driving after a five-vehicle crash that sent two people to hospital Tuesday night.

Windsor police say a white Jeep was travelling east on Wyandotte St. E striking a Volvo next to the curb at St. Rose Ave.

The initial crash sparked a chain reaction causing the Volvo to slam into a parked truck, which then caused two more parked vehicles to be damaged. The Jeep came to rest on its side, while the truck was on the sidewalk in front of a restaurant that was open at the time.

The 21-year-old driver of the Volvo and the 43-year-old driver of the Jeep were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the Jeep failed a breath test and was charged with impaired driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding 80mg.

Windsor police say they are also investigating a hit and run that happened moments before this incident near Pillette Rd. involving a white Jeep that fled the scene.
