Police say contacting 911 through a residential telephone was not working overnight on Thursday. However, calling 911 from a cell phone was still operational.
The OPP is now reporting Bell Canada has resolved the issue and the service is once again completely available.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
