Essex County Teams Vying For Sutherland Cup

The Leamington Flyers and the LaSalle Vipers are two of the four teams that will battle it out for the Ontario Hockey Associations Sutherland Cup.

The Flyers are ranked third after beating the LaSalle Vipers to become the GOJHL Western Conference Champions on Saturday. During their season, the Flyers compiled a record of 12 wins and four losses, scoring a total of 56 goals and allowing just 30 against.

The LaSalle Vipers are ranked fourth in the Sutherland Cup Wild Card spot. The hockey club won ten games and lost five during their post season run. The Vipers netted 56 goals and allowed 45 against.

Along with the Elmira Sugar Kings and the Caledonia Corvairs, the two Essex County teams will face off in the semi-final series for the Sutherland Cup. Game dates have yet to be announced.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
