Finding Ways To Include Mayor

Amherstburg begins budget deliberations today, without Mayor Aldo DiCarlo in attendance.

Resident Brenda Kokko is voicing her displeasure with the situation. "The residents want the mayor in attendance. We elected him. He is the leader of our town. It only makes sense," explains Kokko. "I don't know any other municipality that conducts their budget deliberations without their mayor."

She spoke at last night's town council meeting, and after debating it for more than an hour, councillors decided to go forward with today's meeting as scheduled.

The other two dates, however, have been postponed.

Councillors are now sending their individual schedules to administration for them to come up with best possible evenings and weekends where everyone, including the mayor, can be there.
