The SIU confirms the assault is alleged to have taken place earlier this month, and the complainant is a 24-year-old woman.
The unit won't confirm the officer's name or the circumstances surrounding the assault.
The Windsor Police Service is referring all inquiries to the Special Investigations Unit.
