The call came in shortly after 7pm. Robson Rd. was closed at Erie St. S and Cherry Lane for a short time, but has since reopened.
Fire officials say there are no injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
The annual Canada Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, from Wildwood Park to Kenwick Park.
The $7.6 million project, which also involved water and sewer infrastructure improvements, began in 2024.
