Chamber Studying Leamington Labour Market

The Leamington District Chamber of Commerce is using a $123,000 provincial grant for a labour market study.

Chamber President David Campbell says hiring a specialist should mean new information to help local businesses be successful.

"We're not sure where it's going to lead us. We're going to leave it so open, that we don't guide this person, 'we must find at the end of this year that you find us this,'" says Campbell, excited by what the announcement represents. "I'm tired of hearing the coffee shop talk, you know, 'Leamington may as well board up and walk away.' We're nowhere near boarding up, we're going to be moving forward."

Campbell says the grant appilcation was put together after the Heinz closure in the town. He is hoping to have hired the labour market specialist within a month. The funding lapses on March 31, 2016.
