Concerns Over Hwy 3 Rehab

Six months of Hwy. 3 road work is being tendered out by the province, but Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos is still waiting for an answer on one of the town's key concerns.

The resurfacing and reconstruction project would do away with the extended gravel shoulder used for carpooling at Hwy. 3 and Division Rd.

"We haven't seen the finalized plans that would allow that place to be maintained or an alternate location within that area," says Santos.

Despite worries over the carpool parking, the Kingsville mayor is happy to see the project will now include improvements at the intersection of County Rd. 18 and Arner Townline.

"The trucks making the turns onto Arner Townline will now be able to pursue that more safely and not actually go into the oncoming lane and create potential concerns and incidents there," says Santos.

The project includes reconstruction of the highway from County Rd. 27 to County Rd. 34 and resurfacing from County Rd. 8 to County Rd. 27. Work is expected to start this year.
