Canada's First House-In-Hospital

It's an exciting day at Windsor Regional Hospital, as plans are unveilled for its new Ronald McDonald House.

Not many details are being given at this time, although Executive Director for Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario Margaret Anderson says Canada's first ever "house-in-hospital" will be a minimum of five bedrooms.

"We're going to be about 3,700 sq. ft. in total, but at this point that's pretty much what we know for sure," she explains.

Anderson says 26% of the families served at the Ronald McDonald House in London come from Windsor and Essex County, and that number won't change, but it's important to be able to provide extra comfort and care for families attending Windsor Regional Hospital as well.
