Downtown Farmers Market Saved

Windsor's Downtown Farmers Market was struggling financially to open this year, but thanks to a local entrepreneur, its 2015 season is a go.

Owner of Rose City Ford John Chisholm says he couldn't see this integral part of downtown close. "I've been to the St. Jacobs Market and the Waterloo Market and the Kitchener Market on Saturday mornings and it's vital," says Chisholm. "It's really important for all of these cities, especially Windsor, to have something that's really community-minded and downtown where people gather."

Chisholm says his personal connection to city markets dates back decades. "I grew up in the downtown city market. When I moved back to Windsor in 1983, I went downtown to the city market and used it until the day it closed," he says. "I love the city markets, I really do."

Chisholm says he hopes this donation will give council and the downtown market enough time to come up with a sustainable solution.
