Hopeful About New Colchester Partner

The Town of Essex is talking about partnering with St. Clair College to take over the restaurant at Colchester Harbour.

Deputy Mayor Richard Meloche says the kitchen and bathrooms need to be completely redone, so the town needs a partner with sufficient funds, who is willing to commit to the project.  "And we've often talked about trying to have some kind of partnerships with educational pillar of the community, to make our community more viable.  So this would be a splendid opportunity for us."

Meloche hopes that a deal can be reached soon, in order to be able to renovate and have the restaurant up and running by the summer of 2016.  He says the facility would be used as a training ground for St. Clair's culinary students.

The building has been stagnant for the last five years, after multiple complications between its owner and the town.
