Industrial Development Fees In Kingsville

The Town of Kingsville is considering joining neighbouring municipalities in easing development charge requirements.

Tonight, councillors will consider removing development charges from proposed industrial developments.

Mayor Nelson Santos says it could help attract jobs to the town. "This could be an opportunity to offer an incentive for anyone who has an interest in developing industrially to consider our municipality."

Kingsville recently approved a new industrial park area in Ruthven. Santos says the amount they collect yearly in industrial development fees is minimal, so the move shouldn't impact taxpayers.

Leamington recently removed all development charges and Essex is considering a similar move.
