Runners Fundraise For Special Olympics

The law enforcement torch run is making its way through Windsor-Essex today.

The runners began in Tecumseh, and are running legs in each municipality, until ending with a 5km run in Windsor.

OPP Constable Jim Chauvin says like past years, it's in support of Special Olympics. "The fundraising aspect for today is very minimal. What's more of an impact is us spending time with the athletes and getting out in the community."

They'll run through Harrow, Amherstburg and LaSalle this afternoon, ending in Windsor at 4pm.

It's the 28th annual torch run, which has raised $200,000 for Special Olympics athletes.
