Lakeshore Considers Sidewalks For Students

The Town of Lakeshore is investigating the possibility of more sidewalks in Stoney Point and Woodslee.

Parents in those two areas have asked for sidewalks, crosswalks and crossing guards because the consortium that buses students to St. Paul's Catholic Elementary School has increased its walking distance. Students as young as 7 years old will be expected to walk a greater distance to school starting in September.

Mayor Tom Bain says council has asked for a sidewalks needs analysis. "It'll look at how just many walkers are there, and the traffic count, what regulations we have for putting stop signs, and four-way stops and crosswalks."

Bain believes about 80 students are affected.
