Lighten Up Campaign Targets Drouillard

The head of Windsor media company Marz Media wants Windsor to lighten up, especially Drouillard Rd.

Adam Marz is holding a fundraiser tonight at Water's Edge Event Centre, which is itself a revitalization project in Ford City. Marz hopes to raise $10,000 to pay for cafe lights along Drouillard Rd., adding a feeling of ambiance and safety to the area. Murals depicting the history of the neighbourhood will be spotlighted.

Eventually, Marz wants to expand the project to other Windsor neighbourhoods as well. "I really want to see that area do better," he says. "I feel like if we can affect real change down there then that will do as an example for what we can do on a larger scale for the city as a whole."

The lights will be permanent and at no cost to the city or businesses.

The event tonight starts at 9pm.
