Fishing For A Name

A youth competition to name the mascot for the Windsor FINA 2016 World Championship is kicking off today.

"The official FINA Event Mascot is always an important and iconic component to the excitement surrounding and leading up to the Championships and we want the name to be fun and represent the culture and history of our amazing host community," says Mayor Drew Dilkens in a news release.

The contest is open to children between the ages of four years old to 17 years old and the deadline to submit a name is June 21. Entries will only be accepted by those going to school in Windsor-Essex and must be submitted online.

The grand prize winner gets an Apple iPad-mini along with four passes to the FINA 2016 World Swimming Championship Opening Ceremonies.

The FINA 2016 World Swimming Championships run December 7-11, 2016 in Windsor.
