Flood Watch Issued For Essex Region

The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the region.

The conservation authority says moist ground conditions from last weekend's rainfall and the 20 mm to 40 mm of precipitation that is expected Sunday night, could possibly cause flooding.

As well, due to the potential for high intensity isolated thunderstorms, there is an greater possibility of flooding and drainage problems in urban areas. Wind gusts up to 70 km per hour are also possible with this storm system.

The conservation authority advises residents to avoid flowing and standing water, which can be extremely hazardous.

The flood watch ends on Monday at 9am.
