Texas Road Project Becoming Reality

The tender for Amherstburg's Texas Road reconstruction project goes out this week.

Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says the community's been waiting more than 10 years for this, and although it's a scaled back version of what the project was once going to be, he thinks it's getting done the right way. "We definitely, and I should say obviously, looked into any long term possible issues like having to dig again for sewer issues or water issues. That is still something we can address later without having to tear up the road, I think."

After the bids come in, town administration give its recommendation to council on July 13.

The $4.5-million dollars worth of construction on Texas Rd., Kingsbridge Dr., Front Rd. and County Rd. 5 is slated to begin in August, and be completed before this year ends.
