Kingsville Bridge Study Recommends Funding

Kingsville town council will wait until after the public has its say before deciding how to proceed with the recommendations of a report on bridge repairs.

The report says $1.9-million will be needed over the next five years, and $4.5-million over the next decade. Kingsville has 36 bridges and 16 culverts in various states of disrepair.

"We're trying to quantify what is the actual scope," says Mayor Nelson Santos. "Because it's bridges and culverts you don't necessarily see them blended in with some of the roadways already. We need to get a good grasp of what that inventory is and where do they stand."

Nelson says money for some of the work has already been set aside for this year.

The public meeting will be in July.
