Windsor Police Target Human Trafficking

Windsor police say they've rescued one young woman from the sex trade, arrested another, and are helping a third leave the sex trade.

Officers took part in a nationwide investigation into human trafficking called Operation Northern Spotlight last week.

So far, officers have met with eight women involved in the sex trade to find out if they're being exploited. A 17-year-old girl was rescued and placed in a local women's shelter. Police arrested a 16-year-old from the Greater Toronto Area for breach of recognizance and outstanding warrants. A third woman told police she planned to leave the sex trade.

Twenty-one police services across Ontario are taking part in the operation including Toronto police.
