An area manufacturing company appears to be consolidating in Windsor, creating dozens of new jobs. A.P. Plasman, a tool and mold shop, plans to create 55 jobs and move an addition 269 staff into a new Sprucewood Ave. facility. Planning and Economic Development Standing Committee chair Bill Marra says it's a smart move for the city to waive $2-million in property taxes. "It represents an investment value of $6.24-million into this community and you're looking at an improvement to a facility that's over 400,000 sq ft," Marra says. "It's a win-win situation in that we create the environment for additional investment, new jobs and sustainability." The property tax waiver will be over 10 years through the city's Economic Revitalization Community Improvement Plan. The company currently has three locations in Windsor -- two on Outer Dr. and a third on Burke St. There's also other facilities in Tecumseh, Tilbury, Alabama, Michigan and Japan. City council must give the tax waiver a final stamp of approval.
