The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service says the fire broke out around 9pm at 2498 Tourangeau Rd.
Fire officials say the building is a commercial store on the first floor with apartments on the second floor. According to investigators, the unattended barbecue affected the rear of the building, with flames developing in the attic.
Damage is pegged at $150,000 and there were no injuries.
