Major Kingsville Drain Project Almost There

Shovels are finally ready to hit the ground for the reconstruction of a drain along Wigle Ave. in Kingsville.

The tender has been awarded and Nelson Santos says they just need the go-ahead from Ontario's Ministry of the Environment to start digging up the 40-year-old storm sewer. "The construction crews are ready to go. It's just a matter of getting that final detail in place, so that we can proceed and get the bulk of the project done this year." Santos adds that the final grade and asphalt covering are expected to be completed next spring.

A provincial grant is covering about $1-million of the $1.6-million project.

Property owners on Wigle Ave. are paying between $1,000 and $4,000 each, depending on their frontage. That'll make up about $300,000 of the project's cost.
