Residents Escape Blaze Thanks To Smoke Alarm

Two people are displaced after a kitchen fire broke out at a home in Windsor.

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service says on Friday around 4pm, firefighters battled the blaze at 3884 Vaughan St. and were able to get it under control quickly. The fire, which started in the kitchen, had spread to the attic when fire crews arrived.

Fire officials say there were no injuries and the residents made it out of the house safely thanks to a working smoke alarm.

The cause of the fire is believed to be unattended cooking and damage is estimated at around $40,000.
