More than 10,000 books written by local authors have come to reality thanks to Windsor's self-publishing machine.
Windsor Public Library Board chair Peter Frise says the three-year-old machine is proving to be a big success. "It was the first one in Canada and by far one of the most successful still," he says.
"But it's more than just a self-publishing system, it has fostered the development of a whole community of local writers."
The machine is a tool that provides locals with opportunities in the literary world, he says. "For me it was a hobby, but I know there are people who are serious writers, who are very keen to pursue it as some sort of a career and I think it's giving them an opportunity they wouldn't normally have."
Anyone can publish a 100-page, black and white book at the main branch for $7.50.
