Beautifying The Gateway To Walkerville

Devonshire Rd., from Riverside Dr. to Wyandotte St. in Windsor, is getting a facelift.

Construction's set to begin Tuesday and wrap up before October.

Ward 4 Councillor Chris Holt believes more businesses will be setting up shop along what he calls "the gateway to Walkerville," in the near future. "Hopefully one day the Walkerville Power building will see a rejuvenation. That is going to be an incredible spark to the neighbourhood," says Holt. "And it (Walkerville) is starting to fill in (with residents and businesses), to the point where we do have to be proactive and we do have to plan for the future."

The $400,000 project includes curb work, new cross walks, the removal of train tracks and the milling and paving of Devonshire Rd.
