RIDE Program Catches Alleged Drunk Driver

OPP officers tracked down and arrested a Lakeshore man trying to avoid an impaired driving checkpoint.

Lakeshore OPP held a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program Monday in front of the police detachment on Notre Dame St.

At around 1:30am police noticed a vehicle turn down a side street trying to avoid the police check.

An officer followed the vehicle, which came to a stop on Elmwood Ave. The driver fled on foot, but the officer arrested him a short time later.

A 22-year-old Lakeshore man is charged with several offences including impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle and assault with intent to resist arrest.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
