Windsor To Host FINA Convention

Windsor's mayor says holding the 2016 FINA World Aquatics Convention will provide the city with $1.5-million in economic spinoffs, at no cost to the city.

Drew Dilkens recently returned from the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia where he made the pitch. "They know that we're invested. They know that we're serious, and they know we can hold world class events."

Windsor is already hosting the 2016 FINA World Championships.

Meanwhile, construction on a new six-lane 25m (82ft) warm-up pool at the WFCU Centre started in July and is expected to open next summer.

The three-day convention in December 2016 will bring 500 delegates to the city.
