Leamington Hospice Completion Date Set

Officials at the Windsor and Essex County Hospice have been told the new Leamington campus will be ready November 1.

Construction began on the site just off Talbot St. W, across from the hospital, earlier this year.

Executive Director Carol Derbyshire says it will take a bit of time to prepare the building. "By about mid-November we will start to bring patients in, probably one at a time over a couple of weeks."

Derbyshire says they've already raised $5.2-million of the $6-million goal. They also have more than 100 volunteers trained.

The Rotary Club of Leamington is holding a perch fish fry fundraiser for hospice tonight at the Seacliff Park pavilion as part of this year's Tomato Festival.
