Relief For Shores Of Erie Volunteers

Charges against five Shores of Erie Wine Festival volunteers are being dropped.

Paul Mersch, Karen Gyorgy, Joanne DiPierdomenico, Don Deslippe and Anne Rota had all faced charges related to allowing a minor to drink alcohol at the festival.

That minor, 18-year-old Emily Bernauer was working at a Sobeys tent at the festival and passed away after crashing her car on her way home in September of last year.

New charges of permitting a person who appears to be under the age of 19 to have liquor and of failing to inspect identification of a person who appears to be under 19 are now against the festival corporation.

A separate charge of permitting a person who appears to be under the age of 19 to have liquor also stands against the manager of the Amherstburg Sobeys, Rennie Rota.

He's expected in court on August 24.
