Service To Honour Canada's Peacekeepers

A year after the City of Windsor erected a monument in Reaume Park, there will be a service to honour Canada's peacekeepers.

The monument honours all who served in Canada's various peacekeeping missions, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the war in Afghanistan.

Mike Lepine with the North Wall Riders Association says organizers didn't want to interfere with Remembrance Day ceremonies in November.

"The City of Windsor has so many monuments pertaining to our troops and normally every city celebrates November 11 at their downtown cenotaphs. They don't do it at individual monuments."

The service, which Lepine hopes will become an annual event, starts at 11am.
