The Tecumseh Fire Service says a car was fully engulfed when they arrived on the highway at Malden Rd around 9am on Sunday.
Tecumseh fire officials say one lane of eastbound Hwy. 3 has been reopened. They ask motorists to use caution and look out for crew members.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
