David Suzuki Visiting Local Students

Environmentalist David Suzuki is paying a visit to Hillman Marsh in Leamington this afternoon.

LDSS teacher Lisa Jeffery says part of his visit will include speaking to student leaders.

"To have him come here and acknowledge some young people are trying to make a difference, it just reinforces their efforts and really encourages them to do a bit more for their community and their country," says Jeffery.

The Eco Team at the high school organized a blue-green algae summit this past spring and is part of the Blue Dot Leamington initiative.

"We were just lucky David Suzuki had heard about our efforts and wanted to meet some of our students to hear about their initiative and basically encourage young people to take up environmental causes," says Jeffery.

Part of Suzuki's visit will also include hearing from other area specialists.
