SIU Investigates E-Bike Rider's Arrest

The province's Special Investigations Unit is investigating after an e-bike rider suffered injuries during an arrest in Tecumseh.

Wednesday, an Ontario Provincial Police officer spotted a man he knew was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle on an e-bike. The man also wasn't wearing a helmet.

When the officer tried to stop the man but when he didn't cooperate, he was tasered. He suffered minor injuries.

The 42-year-old faces assault with intent to resist arrest and prohibited driving charges.

Police call the Special Investigations Unit whenever there's an injury or death involving the police.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
