Walkerville Block Party Plans Continue

Plans for the first annual Walkerville Block Party are nearly complete.

Argyle Rd. will close north of Wyandotte St. E Friday and Saturday to host the fundraising event.

Co-Organizer Rob Kolody expects the age of majority event to draw a large crowd.

"We certainly believe that the entertainment is going to be there," he says. "We have a number of restaurants showing up from the Walkerville area. We've kept it exclusive to the Walkerville area the first year we're doing this."

Kolody says funds raised during the event will go to the United Way's emergency assistance fund.

"It's for individuals that fall through a number of different social cracks and are not eligible for a number of different services."
