Windsor police say the incident happened around 11:30pm, Sunday night.
A 45-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
No further details are being made available at this time.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
