Entrance To New Hospice Is Rock Steady

The front of the still under construction Erie Shores Hospice now has a solid front entrance.

A 12-tonne rock was set in the roundabout entrance to the soon-to-be finished building.

Board Chair Cole Cacciavillani says the rock, donated by Erie Sand and Gravel, is actually a piece of a mountain near Bracebridge that was moved down to our area during the ice age.

"There is a whole complete story from one of the geologists from the University of Windsor that will be posted inside. The rock is between 1.2-billion and 1.5-billion years old."

Construction continues of the new hospice building in Leamington, now with an April completion date. Delays have forced the opening to be pushed back from November.

So far nearly $5-million has been raised toward the campaigns $6-million goal.
