New Name For Essex-Amherstburg Trail

A finished trail will soon link the towns of Essex and Amherstburg.

A donation of $250,000 for the naming rights to the 25 km trail mean it will now be known as the "Cypher Systems Group Greenway."

Essex Region Conservation Authority General Manager Richard Wyma says part of the trail was finished in 2010, but there is a lot to do.

"We have about 15 km to 20 km left to build, so beginning in the spring of 2016 we will get on the trail and begin the clearing and the ground work to put the trail surfacing on," he says.

Wyma hopes construction will be finished by the end of 2016.

The total cost of the work is $1-million, which is being covered through private donations.
