Drunk Driver Stopped On Tarmac

A call for an unauthorized vehicle driving on the tarmac at Windsor airport ended with a man charged with impaired driving.

Police say airport security was able to stop the black GMC Yukon around 8:40pm, Friday.

The vehicle had extensive damage to its front end and chunks of mud were hanging from the running boards.

It's believed the driver was heading down Country Rd. 42 and hit the ditch, drove through a fence, and onto the airport grounds.

The driver, a 70 year old Amherstburg man, was treated in hospital for a cut to his nose, and then charged with impaired driving.
