New Schools Get Provincial Funding

Thanks to $30.5-million from the Ontario government, the Greater Essex County District School Board can move forward with plans to build two new schools.

Chair of the Board of Trustees Gale Simko-Hatfield says sites will now need to be chosen for new Giles Public and DM Eagle Public Elementary Schools.

"We've been waiting for quite some times for the funding to build a new French Immersion school. That was a big priority for us, so it's a very exciting day for our school board."

Giles will house French Immersion students currently attending class at the former WD Lowe High School.

Education Minister Liz Sandals announced this morning that 30 new schools would be built across the province.
