Woman Out $7K From Bank Scam

The financial crimes unit is searching for a man in his 40s or 50s after a woman was bilked out of $7,000.

Police say the 73-year-old was contacted by phone by a man claiming to be her bank manager. He said he was investigating internal theft asked her to withdraw a total of $7,000 spread over two different bank branches. She was then to meet him in a Tecumseh Rd. E parking lot.

She withdrew the cash, met the man, and handed over the money. He told her he'd call her in a couple of days. When she never heard from him she called police.

He's described as 6' tall with a thin build. He was clean shaven with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark brown or tan coloured jacket slightly longer that waist length, a black sweatshirt under the jacket. He also wore blue jeans and running shoes.

Police are asking anyone with information to call.
