Harrow High Focus Of Public Meeting

The chair of a provincial advisory group dealing with community hubs is expected to attend a public meeting over the closure of Harrow High.

Karen Pitre, the chair of the Premier's Community Hub Framework Advisory Group, will attend the special Essex town council meeting at the Essex Centre Sports Complex Monday night. The meeting starts at 4pm in the Shaheen Community Room.

Last month, town council submitted a petition to the Ministry of Education requesting a formal review of the Greater Essex County District School Board decision to close Harrow High at the end of June. The school board is expected to file a response sometime this month, and the ministry could decide by the middle of January whether to appoint a facilitator to review the board's accommodation review process.

The town has also hired a lawyer to review the process and how trustees reached their decision.

The meeting tonight will discuss ways to use Harrow High as a community hub.
