Possible Charges In ATV Crash

A LaSalle man remains in hospital with serious injuries after an ATV crash in Amherstburg over the weekend and police say charges may be pending.

Windsor-Essex EMS along with police and fire personnel responded to the 4900-block of the 4th Concession N in Amherstburg at about 12:30am on Sunday. Two people, both from LaSalle, were sent to hospital with injuries after being involved in an ATV crash.

Officers report a 41-year-old man was driving an ATV, with a 38-year-old woman as his passenger, leading a group of ATVs westbound through a farmers field when the lead ATV hit a ditch on the west side of the 4th Concession N. Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the ATV.

Police say while the man driving the ATV was seriously hurt, the woman escaped with minor injuries and has since been released from hospital.

Officers say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Amherstburg Police Service at 519-736-3622 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
