LaSalle Warns Of Privacy Breach

The Town of LaSalle is warning residents who used its online registration for recreational programs of a privacy breach.

The breach was recognized when two residents notified the town that they were able to view personal information of another individual while logged into their accounts. Personal information including names, addresses, phone numbers, names of children and dates of birth were all part of the breach. No financial information was stored in the system.

There were about 140 accounts in the new software, residents will be notified by mail about the breach.

The system was shut down on December 8 and will remain down until testing is completed to ensure privacy is protected.
