Falling Limb Leads To Fine

A Windsor tree service has been fined $50,000 after a falling tree limb critically injured a worker.

The owner of Landgraff Forestry pleaded guilty in a Windsor court yesterday (Dec 21) to not keeping workers out of a zone where falling limbs could land.

The incident happened on July 19. 2014 when the company was removing two dead trees and a 12 ft limb slipped from a rope and fell on a worker.

The worker sustained critical injuries including fractures.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
