UPDATE: Flood Warning For Leamington Ends

The Essex Region Conservation Authority is letting its flood warning for the southern shore of Pelee Island and southeast shore of Leamington lapse.

Some roads in the Cotterie Park and Marentette Beach area flooded last night because of high winds coming off Lake Erie.

The warning was issued Monday night and was in effect until noon Tuesday, but watershed management services director, Tim Byrne says by morning, conditions had changed for the better.

"The winds shifted and did not increase in intensity," he says. "Wave activity has subsided, and we're allowing those properties to drain out."

Byrne says a power outage in the area last night added to flooding because it shut off private and municipal pumps.
