The outage occurred just after 7pm Monday, and affected the area from the Detroit River to Tecumseh Ave W. between South St. and Crawford Ave.
Officials have not released the cause of the outage.
Pockets of homes may still be without power for some time.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
