Autographed Jerseys Taken In Break-In

The president of the Windsor Minor Hockey League is asking for the public's help after a break-in at the Adie Knox Arena.

Dean Lapierre says thieves stole five autographed jerseys from the league's board room early Sunday morning.

"Unfortunately, the door wasn't closed all the way," he says describing how the thieves got in through a side door. "Sure enough, somebody seen that opportunity and unfortunately, now we have to work on getting these jerseys back.

They include jerseys signed by NHL graduates Bob Boughner, Ed Jovanovski, John Tucker and Matt Martin. But Lapierre says the most valuable is a jersey signed by former NHL enforcer, Bob Probert.

"How do you get a legend like Bob Probert who left us five or six years ago? You can't get that signed now."

Lapierre says the jerseys are autographed to Windsor Minor Hockey, so they're not worth anything to anybody but the league.

He says Windsor Police are investigating, and anyone with information should call them or Crime Stoppers.
